Islay Festival of Malt and Music 2006

Sunday, May 28th

Bruichladdich Distillery Sunday is the real start of Feis Ile. For some reason the sun always shines on this day (picture taken during the week). Some say Jim McEwan has a special deal with the raingod (or the devil).

Bruichladdich Distillery As soon as the Islay Pipe Band has arrived the courtyard is packed with visitors.

Nosing and Tasting

Bruichladdich Distillery Jim McEwan is capable of getting and keeping everyone's attention by his vast knowledge and enthousiasm for more than two hours.

Bruichladdich Distillery Only to be interrupted by a performance of no one less than Robin Laing. Robin had us witness a premier: his (still unfinished) song about the perilous whisky (the four times distilled Bruichladdich).

Bruichladdich Distillery In the courtyard there is much to see and do as well. Norma Munro puts a spell on everybody with her beautiful singing. Her second CD has just been released.

Bruichladdich Distillery It doesn't take long before a ceilidh starts. Good music, good food (and a few drams) are a real help.

Bruichladdich Bottles

Bruichladdich Distillery As always you can fill your own bottle. This 'Valinch' can only be acquired at the distillery.
