Introduction to The Ileach - The People of Islay

No matter how beautiful a place is, in the end it’s the people there and their way of living who make you fall in love with that part of the world. May it be their friendliness, their open-mindedness or just the way they happily ignore the hectic ruling our modern lives…

On Islay, one cannot avoid finding these pleasant qualities in most of the people, but there is, however, much more interesting about them than 'just' their kindness.

This part of the website is therefore meant as 'a window to the people of Islay'. Visitors of the site might find it interesting to learn more about the people living on this island and their stories. Often, you will be astonished how involved 'The Illeachs' are with there island and culture and you will admire their various jobs, capabilities and hobbies.

Naturally, I am very grateful that the persons presented on this site took the time to tell their story, opened themselves and give us a view 'through their window'.

As it is an ongoing project, I am busy trying to present a good mixture of characters, backgrounds and opinions which, of course, can never be complete or finished… That, however, is the beauty of it – and another good reason to keep coming back ;-)

Time to meet some of the Ileach's, just click on their picture to find out more about them.
