Ardtalla Beach

ardtalla-beach-walk

Directions: Drive from Port Ellen towards the southern distilleries, and follow the road all the way to the end, passing Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Ardbeg and Kildalton Cross and Chapel. When you reach Claggain Bay, continue to the end of the bay until you see a wee carpark on your right, this is the end of the official road.

Walk: Cross a gate and follow the track which bends to the right to enter the beach. After you pass the first stone wall, you need to head down (right) to the beach over the field. The beach itself is small but beautiful and quite sheltered from cold westerly and northerly winds. It’s a haven for wildlife, including sea eagles and seals.
